Objects at Multi-Project Risk identifies data assets that are simultaneously involved in multiple active projects and still have tasks associated with them. These objects represent a high operational risk because parallel project activity can lead to inconsistent updates, conflicting changes, and unintended metadata overwrites.
Objects involved in more than one active project with outstanding tasks are a high operational risk—this recipe finds those overlaps, shows the exact non-Done tasks causing exposure, and gives teams a prioritized view to coordinate and prevent metadata conflicts.
Step 1 — Objects appearing in multiple active projects
Return all objects that appear in more than one active project and have at least one non-Done task in those projects, sorted by number of associated projects (descending).
Step 2 — Detailed rows for each object / project / task
For each object from Step 1, expand into separate rows that show the project, task, task owner, and non-Done status to surface the exact conflicting work items.
Step 3 — Visual summary of objects vs. number of active projects
Render a simple visual (bar chart or leaderboard) that shows, for the objects at risk, how many active projects each is involved in so stakeholders can spot the highest-risk assets immediately.
| Insight Category | What the recipe discovered | Business Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Top multi-project object | customers.dim_customer appears in 4 active projects and includes 3 non-Done tasks owned by different teams. | High likelihood of conflicting metadata updates; requires immediate owner alignment. |
| Blocking validation task | finance.transactions is in 2 active projects but a validation task in Project A remains non-Done, blocking Project B release. | Delays downstream deliveries and increases release risk until the non-Done task is resolved. |
| Low immediate risk overlap | staging.temp_events appears in 2 active projects but has no open tasks, indicating low current risk. | Monitor for future changes; no urgent coordination required now. |
